Life makes its adjustments in our activity therefore, this year International Conference on Nuclear Decommissioning and Environment Recovery was conducted on April 27-29, 2020 online. The conference was organized by the Executive Committee of Slavutych City Council with the support of the State Agency of Ukraine on Exclusion Zone Management, the State Specialized Enterprise “Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant”, the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP of the NAS of Ukraine, and the Institute of Mathematical Machines and Systems Problems of the NAS of Ukraine.
The aim of the conference was to study scientific problems, establish cooperation and exchange of experience on nuclear facilities decommissioning, radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel management.
The conference was founded in 2016 in Slavutych. It is conducted within the frameworks of occasions dedicated to the anniversary of the Chornobyl NPP disaster. Now, Slavutych is an international platform for engineers and scientists where they can exchange their experience regarding nuclear power, ecology, and innovative technologies. Every year discussions of INUDECO prove it – Slavutych is in the epicenter of scientific and practical searches in nuclear power and environment recovery.
The program of the conference provided for plenary discussion and three breakout sessions on the following topics: Chornobyl NPP and the Shelter object; Nuclear power and new generation; From catastrophe to the new life.
Plenary discussion on the topic “From the catastrophe to the new life: challenges of COVID-19/Chornobyl” was conducted on April 27. Yurii Fomichev, Slavutych mayor, moderated the discussion. 101 people registered for participation in the conference.
