    Due to the occupation of the Chornobyl exclusion zone by Russian troops during February-March 2022, significant damage was caused to the unique laboratories of the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP of the NAS of Ukraine. To promote the restoration of the premises of the Institute and its equipment, on April 25, 2022, the Charitable Organization “Charity Foundation” “Chornobyl Nuclear Safety Science Fund” was established. The founders of the Fund are the employees of the ISP NPP, among them: the Head of the Department for NPP Decommission V. V. Derengovskyi, the Head of the Division for Nuclear and Radiation Safety V. O. Krasnov, the Deputy Director for General Issues Ye. M. Kudin, and the Head of the Division for Design of Objects with Radiation and Nuclear Technologies V. M. Rudko. At the founding meeting of the founders of the Charitable Foundation, the Head of the Department for Radiation Ecology of the ISP NPP, Dr. of technical sciences M. M. Talerko was elected its director.

    The Foundation’s areas of charitable activity are:

  • restoration of the laboratory and office premises of the ISP NPP located in the city of Chornobyl and whose personnel perform scientific and technical support for the of the Shelter object transformation into an ecologically safe system, decommissioning of the ChNPP power units, spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste management;
  • elimination of the consequences of the Russian military occupation of the territory of the Chornobyl NPP exclusion zone, assistance to the affected scientific institutions that conduct research at nuclear facilities in Ukraine.
