Scientists Conducted Radiation Survey of the CSNFSF Construction Site
Employees of the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of NAS of Ukraine systematically conduct work on the assessment of the radioecological situation at the construction site of the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (CSNFSF). The activity is carried out within the framework of the agreement on “Scientific and technical support during the construction and commissioning of the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility”. According to the research plan, on July 9, 2019, a radiation survey was carried out at the territory of the construction site.
The surveys were carried out both at the sites where the construction of the CSNFSF is carried out, as well as at the territories of the CSNFSF platform. An estimation of the levels of exposure dose rate in the places where the Contractor’s personnel performed works was made.
Specialists of the ISP NPP determine the reference points, which they will constantly monitor the radiation situation at the construction site. Also, samples of soils within the construction site of CSNFSF have been selected. It is necessary for determining the specific activity of radionuclides in soils of the construction site of the CSNFSF. The obtained data will make it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the measures of decontamination of the territory during the preparation of the site for the construction of the CSNFSF and to evaluate the real radiation conditions at the site.
