Invitation of the Director of the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP to the Embassy of the PRC in Ukraine
On August 9, 2023, the Director of the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP, Academician Anatolii Nosovskyi, met with Fan Xianrong, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Ukraine.
During the meeting, Academician Nosovskyi spoke about the history of development, achievements and projects currently being implemented within the framework of the Institute’s scientific and technical cooperation with Chinese partners in the nuclear energy industry. The Director expressed his sincere gratitude to the Embassy of the PRC in Ukraine for providing the Institute with material assistance for the restoration of premises and equipment destroyed and damaged as a result of the occupation of the Institute’s buildings in the city of Chornobyl by russian troops during the full-scale invasion of the territory of Ukraine.
Ambassador Fan Xianrong noted that China always stands for justice and peace, recognizes sovereignty and upholds the policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of all independent states. The Ambassador also emphasized that despite all the circumstances that during the last three years limit the possibility of mutual visits and the qualitative development of Ukrainian-Chinese cooperation, the Embassy of the PRC in Ukraine highly values and in every possible way contributes to the continuation and development of already existing scientific and technical projects and the creation of promising initiatives, which will have indisputable relevance for Ukraine and China after the end of the war and during the reconstruction period.
Ambassador Fan Xianrong noted that scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and China in the field of nuclear energy technologies is of great importance for the development of this industry and increasing the safety of the nuclear energy use throughout the world. He also expressed his approval of the presented scientific and technical projects, which the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP is carrying out together with its Chinese partners, and emphasized that the Embassy of the PRC in Ukraine supports these projects and will contribute to their successful implementation in every possible way. Thus, at the request of Academician Anatolii Nosovskyi regarding the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology of the PRC for the creation of a joint Ukrainian-Chinese laboratory for testing robotic devices in real radiation conditions of the Shelter object of the Chornobyl NPP, Ambassador Fan Xianrong assured that such support would be provided by Embassy of China in Ukraine.
