The largest national broadcaster in Japan visited the Institute

    On November 23, the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP of the NAS of Ukraine hosted well-known journalists from NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation). NHK is Japan’s largest national broadcaster, which is known for its active coverage of events taking place in Ukraine for the Japanese audience.

    Director of the Institute, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Anatolii Nosovskyi highlighted the current state of the Institute’s functioning in Chornobyl, and also shared information on the damages caused by the russian occupation in March 2022. Journalists personally witnessed the devastating impact of the Russian occupation on the Chornobyl laboratories. Anatolii Nosovskyi emphasized the importance of expanding Ukraine’s cooperation with Japan and other international partners in the interest of ensuring the stability and progress of nuclear science in the world.

     Viktor Krasnov, the Head of the Division for Nuclear and Radiation Safety (DNRS), and Olena Pareniuk, a Senior Research of the Institute, participated in the discussion of the key challenges of Ukrainian science and the current projects of reviving the work of laboratories in the field of nuclear energy with journalist Hiroshi Yokokawa. They shared plans for the restoration of scientific activity in laboratories and the results of the first stages that have already been carried out in this direction.
