The Institute for Safety Problems of NPP has received material assistance to resume its work
It is well known that from the end of February to 31 March, the Exclusion Zone of the Chornobyl NPP, and consequently all facilities on its territory, was under the control of the Russian military. As a result, almost all the property in most of the offices and laboratories of the Institute located in the city of Chornobyl was destroyed.
On 18 July 2022, the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants received humanitarian aid from the Association “Ukrainians in Karlsruhe” (Deutsch-Ukrainischer Verein “Ukrainer in Karlsruhe”). The humanitarian aid consisted of computer equipment donated to the association by private companies in Germany. Thanks to this, the Institute was able to partially restore its computer base and office work, as well as to continue its scientific and technical tasks of monitoring nuclear and radiation safety of the destroyed Unit 4 of the Chornobyl NPP.
The management and scientists of the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine express their sincere gratitude to the association “Ukrainians in Karlsruhe” for providing the computer equipment. Thanks to your concern and active civic position, we will be able to resume the scientific activity of the Institute, so Ukrainian scientists will be able to carry out important research tasks and get new knowledge that will help to transform the Shelter object into an ecologically safe system.
