The First Meeting of the Steering Committee and Program Group of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Accident Information Collection and Evaluation Project
On July 11-13, 2022, the first meeting of the Steering Committee and Program Group of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station Accident Information Collection and Evaluation (FACE) OECD/NEA Project was held. The FACE project is a continuation of the BSAF, PreADES and ARC-F projects.
The FACE project is implemented with the following general goals:
- clarification of the interpretation of accident scenarios at the Fukushima Daiichi NPP, including the impact of accident management measures;
- clarification of current opportunities and directions for further improvement of the modeling of the development of severe accidents;
- interpretation of the results of analysis of uranium-containing particles and determination of appropriate methods and procedures of laboratory analysis in “hot” chambers for future use in the analysis of fuel fragments;
- support of communication channels between Japanese organizations and international partners for the exchange of data, information and experience to solve issues related to the elimination of the consequences of the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi NPP and improvement of the safety of reactors in different countries.
23 organizations from 13 countries participate in the project. Ukraine is represented in the project by the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of the NAS of Ukraine.
