The 2nd Volume of the Multi-Author Book “Systems, Decision and Control in Energy. Part IV
The 2nd volume of the 4th part of the book “Systems, Decision and Control in Energy. Part IV” was published with the participation of scientists from the Institute for Safety Problems of Nuclear Power Plants of the NAS of Ukraine, devoted to environmental and nuclear safety issues .
The books series was launched with the active support of young scientists of the Department of Physical and Technical Problems of Power Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
The publication examines current areas of environmental safety related to the operation of nuclear power plants. Attention is paid to safety issues of all chains necessary for the operation of the NPP and energy production.
Scientists of the ISP NPP of the NAS of Ukraine together with colleagues from the State Institution “The Institute of Environmental Geochemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”, G. E. Pukhov Institute for Modeling Problems in Energy of the NAS of Ukraine, the Interregional Academy of Personnel Management and the National Aviation University prepared the following chapters:
- “Modeling of Radiation Characteristics of Fuel-Containing Materials of the Shelter Object for Calculation Dose Rate”, in which the issue of calculating the dose rate during container storage of radioactive materials is considered, using the example of fuel-containing materials of the Chornobyl NPP;
- “Neutron Incident at the Chornobyl NPP Shelter Object: Study of the Causes and Impacts of Safety in the New Confinement”. The chapter is devoted to the problem of interpreting the fact of registration in June 1990 of an anomalous increase in the neutron flux density according to the indicators of the sensor from room 305/2 of the Shelter object. This incident was analyzed using chronological studies of the neutron-physical properties of a potentially nuclear-hazardous accumulation of FCM located inside the room 305/2 of the Shelter object.
Among the authors are young scientists of the Institute R. L. Godun, S. V. Kupriianchuk, K. O. Sushchenko.
This series of books emphasizes the need for research into man-made incidents and disasters in order to increase the energy production safety.
The material presented in the publication will be useful for researchers, students and postgraduates who study environmental problems arising during energy production, as well as specific problems of nuclear power engineering.
