German vice-chancellor Robert Habeck visited Ukraine

    German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economy and Climate Protection Robert Habeck visited Ukraine on Monday, April 3, together with representatives of German business circles.

        The purpose of his visit was to discuss issues related to the restoration of Ukraine, as well as the development of cooperation in the field of energy.

      The Vice-Chancellor of Germany together with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi visited the settlements of Chernihiv region freed from Russian occupation.

      In particular, during his stay in Chernihiv region, Volodymyr Zelenskyi together with Robert Habeck got acquainted with the course of restoration work on the bridge crossing over the Desna River and the presentation of the project for the reconstruction of other bridge crossings in Chernihiv region.

      They also visited the village of Yahidne, where they were able to see all the horrors that the “Russian world” brought. On the occasion of the anniversary of the de-occupation of the village, a commemorative sign was erected next to the entrance to the infamous basement of the school, where the invaders kept almost 400 adults and children.

      On the same day, the Vice-Chancellor and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Ukraine Mrs. Anka Feldhusen visited the satellite city of the Chornobyl NPP – Slavutych. The event took place as part of the activities for the 37th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.

      During the visit, they met with the mayor of the city Yurii Fomichev, the administration of the Chornobyl NPP and the station’s employees who survived the Russian occupation in February-March 2022, and honored the memory of the heroes of Chornobyl by placing flowers at the memorial sign.

       In the meeting hall of the Slavutych City Council, Robert Habeck and Anka Feldguzen discussed the Ukrainian-German partnership, the development of alternative energy, and investment attraction with Yurii Fomichev. The mayor presented the completed development projects of Slavutych city.

       The director of the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine, Anatolii Nosovskyi, was present at this meeting. He spoke with the Vice-Chancellor and told that during the occupation of the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone by Russian troops, the unique laboratories of the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP of the NAS of Ukraine, located in the city of Chornobyl, were destroyed. He also spoke about the importance of receiving assistance for the restoration of the Institute’s destroyed and damaged premises and equipment. During the meeting, Anatolii Nosovskyi presented German Vice-Chancellor Robert Habeck with an English edition of the book dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Institute for Safety Problems of NPP.
